WHAT TO KNOW
  • Country star Zach Bryan made music history on September 27, playing to a crowd of 112,408 at Michigan Stadium, the largest ticketed concert audience in U.S. history. Bryan also set a new record for merchandise sales at $5 million and became the first musician to headline a concert at “The Big House” in the stadium’s 98-year history.

WHY IT MATTERS
  • Bryan’s concert beat the previous U.S. record set by country legend George Strait, who drew 110,905 people to Kyle Field in Texas last year. Strait beat the previous record set in 1977 by the Grateful Dead at Raceway Park in New Jersey. Still, none of the abovementioned concerts come close to the global record set by Rod Stewart, who played a free show for an estimated crowd of 3.5 million people at Brazil’s Copacabana Beach on New Year’s Eve in 1994.

CONNECT THE DOTS
  • On October 3, Bryan released a snippet of a new song in which the singer appears to criticize ICE raids and laments about politics in the U.S. The song, apparently titled Bad News, adds to the chorus of artists and celebrities speaking out against the Trump administration and its brutal immigration agenda.
